A Call to Help

A couple of weeks ago I was deeply moved by the story of an 11 year old boy, diagnosed with Leukemia. His name was Brenden Foster and his wish was to help feed the homeless. This selfless boy was courageous till the end. Sadly, he died last Friday, and since his story made such an impact in my own life, I wanted to share it with you.

(You can turn my music off at the bottom of the screen to watch the video)
This article tells of the impact Brenden had with his efforts to feed the homeless. It is a great reminder for all of us...especially as the Thanksgiving holiday approaches. We truly have so much to be thankful for.
"Follow your dreams. Don't let anything stop you."
~Brenden Foster, 1997-2008

The New Look Is Here!

The new look to my website has finally arrived! I have been working on this new design for a couple of months and really love it, so I am hoping you will too! I wanted to create a layout that was whimsical and easy to navigate...with a few fun surprises along the way. If you get a chance to stop by and look around let me know what you think!

Pure Excitement...

Something I have been very excited about and waiting patiently for has just arrived!

It's the opening my dear friend Tracie's "petite" shop! I had the pleasure of working on her website design some months ago and have come to know her quite well. She is a true gem and someone that I am so blessed to have had the chance to meet through this little place we call Blogland. I only wish we didn't live so many miles apart (New York and California...a bit of a stretch!). But even though all of that distance separates has not prevented us one bit from forming a kindred bond.

In honor of her grand opening, Tracie is offering a very generous giveaway! She has impeccable taste, let me tell you...and anything you receive from her will be amazing for sure! I was blessed to receive a delightful package from her not so long ago. So stop by her shop see all of her delightful treasures and offerings!
And be sure to leave a comment on her blog(s) and sign her guestbook to enter the giveaway!
Till next time...

A New Look...

Antique Bottles
I've been working on a new look for my website for some time now...but thought I would try the new look here at Romantic Thoughts first. What do you think?

Thanks still to those of you praying for my uncle and his family. We visited him on Veteran's Day...he is a veteran ;). We were delighted to find him sitting up in a wheelchair and talking much more than on our other visits. He seems to be making a lot of progress and will no doubt continue to do so over the next few months. It is exciting to see how quickly God moves to heal!

Thank you again! Blessings to you all!

Till next time...

And the Winner is...

Well...besides Barack Obama ;)...we have another winner right here! Joy at The Vintage Rabbit (who has a fabulous and whimsical blog!) won the giveaway I hosted this week. I used the random number generator and counted down to the number given...

Thanks so much for all of the help that you all offered! It will be very useful for my sister's project. She sends her gratitude your way!

Thanks also to those of you who have contacted me regarding my uncle and for your continued prayers. He definitely still needs looks like it will be a long road to recovery but we are very hopeful. We visited him Saturday and he smiled and even shared some laughs with us. There are still many challenges he faces ahead, but I firmly believe that he will have a strong recovery. Thanks for your continued thoughts and prayers!

Till next time...

A Little Giveaway...

My sister has requested my help for a class she is currently taking as she works towards her Bachelor's degree...but really she needs your help! For a project in one of her classes, she needs to have a compilation of wedding "superstitions" that people know of or believe. There are of course the classics such as "something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue" and that the groom shouldn't see the bride before the ceremony. But...she needs if you know of any that you wouldn't mind sharing...we would sure appreciate it!

And as an added incentive, to get as many responses as possible in a short amount of time...I am throwing in a giveaway for one lucky poster. You will receive this adorable vintage porcelain wedding cake topper to add to your collection...or to start one ;)!

Vintage Kissing Cake Topper

I will also be throwing in a few hand made items and a gift certificate to my shop for 25% off your entire order valid through the rest of this year. If you want to participate, simply leave a comment with a wedding superstition that you know of and an email address where I can reach you should your name be drawn. I will be drawing the winner at midnight (Eastern Time) Wednesday, November 5th (sorry for the short notice...but she needs the info asap!) and will contact you Thursday if you have won.

Thanks for the help!
